We all have a craft – something we dedicate our passion and hard work to day in and day out. Ours began with creating a leather knife bag and proper handmade apron for sale to chefs, workmen and women who needed a product that could withstand the intensity of the work each day brought. So, here we are; sharing our craft with those who need a strong, durable product to live up to theirs.
The Proper Strop
The Proper Strop
Like a sharp knife? Then a strop is a must have. This often overlooked, or misunderstood item should be in every knife lovers kit. The natural properties of leather polishes your knife’s edge to hair shaving sharpness, and keeps it there for longer between sharpening sessions.
Handmade using only the highest of quality materials. Featuring a solid hardwood base, and topped with premium heavy-weight leathers, this strop is designed to keep your knives razor sharp for years to come. Leather edges are beveled and burnished to prevent your knives from catching an edge and from collapsing with use.
* Double sided veg-tanned is recommend for those new to stropping or who like a toothier edge. Horsehide is for those with high-hardness knives, and want ultimate sharpness
Available in Horsehide, or Double-sided (smooth and rough) veg-tanned Leather
Solid hardwood base, measuring 10” x 3” x .75”
Cork Base (horse hide only) for a non-slip hold
The Base
Solid hardwood, that is hand sanded for a smooth and elegant feel, and finished with a food-grade oil that keeps the wood protected. Cork pad on the bottom provides a secure grip and protects surfaces. Measure 10” L x 3” W x 3/4” H.
Horsehide Leather
Prized for its dense and firm grain structure, horsehide is considered by many to be the ultimate stropping leather. Its high concentration of naturally occurring silicate and low oil content provides extremely refined edges and excellent control/feedback without the need for compounds.
Bovine Leather
After testing many different bovine leathers, we have settled on this Italian veg-tanned leather. Buttero is a very dense cowhide, with a smooth surface and a tight, even grain structure that produces excellent results. Best for those would prefer stropping with compounds or use it bare if you like and edge with a little bite.
Double Sided
Giving you two options, flesh (rough) side and smooth side. Load up the flesh side with a compound and leave the smooth side bare (or an even finer compound) for a brilliant two-stage strop.
